In the IELTS writing and speaking tests, we are required to use a wide range of complex sentence structures to increase our Grammatical Range and Accuracy band.
There are four types of sentence structures in English. Simple, compound, complex and compound-complex sentences. Each sentence is defined by whether it uses independent or dependent clauses, conjunctions and subordinators.
I will post some more information about each type of sentence structure over the next days. I will also drill down to the different types of clauses you can use and what kind of conjunctions and subordinators we can add to make complex structures.
